Resistance Welding | Spot Welding

D&H Industries are experts in the spot welding process of carbon steels and aluminum components. We use several custom spot welder machines designed for specific part applications. Some of the pieces we manufacture are for military applications where weld quality is critical. We do periodic destructive testing to ensure the validity of our process.

We provide complete assemblies of metal-stamped parts and components. We combine various custom stampings, laser-cut, and pressed parts to supply our customers with turn-key assemblies.

Spot welding works by applying the pressure of copper alloy electrodes against metal components while passing an electrical current through them. Heat is generated by the welding controller to a melting point, creating fusion at the weld area called a weld nugget. Metals possess specific thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity characteristics requiring different welding electrode forces and welding times. The bond between sheet material does not need fluxes, or filler metal, which makes it a cost-effective process. There are numerous types of resistance welding processes: spot, seam, butt, and projection welding.
